11 dads made happier this Father’s Day!

Eleven Alice Springs dads had an extra special Father’s Day after spending it at Lasseters Hotel Casino.

Father’s Day was made extra special for eleven Alice Springs dads on Monday morning when they were told the had won their share in $5000 worth of prizes in the Lasseters Hotel Casino 2010 Father’s Day competition.

By dining in any of the four restaurants at Lasseters Hotel Casino, dads of Alice Springs went into the draw to win up to $5000 worth of amazing prizes including a $3500 luxury golf holiday for two to Cypress Lakes in Hunter Valley, NSW. Second prize was a $1000 six burner BBQ from Home Timber and Hardware and third prize was a $500 Lasseters Hotel Casino voucher.

First prize was won by father of four Anthony Marina. Anthony is originally from the Gold Coast and has been in Alice Springs just 2 months. Anthony and wife Sue enjoyed a children-free Father’s Day treating themselves to a three course, all-you-can-eat buffet at Samphire Restaurant. Anthony has moved to Alice Springs to work for R 8 Concrete. Anthony’s prize includes return airfares for two from Alice Springs to Sydney, return airport transfer from Sydney to Hunter Valley, daily breakfast, lunch and dinner, a deluxe room for 2 and 18 holes of golf including golf buggy hire at the Cypress Lakes Golf and Country Club.

Father of two Steve Haig has been a resident of Alice Springs for four years and is the lucky second prize winner. Steve is the new owner of a $1000 Flinders Deluxe 6 burner BBQ from Home Timber & Hardware in Alice Springs.

Eight dedicated dads won third prize, a $500 Lasseters Hotel Casino voucher. Deryck Ashurst is one of those dads who call themselves ‘The Plumbing and Mechanic Dads from True Blue Angels’. Deryck said “We’re ‘Orphan Dads’ this Father’s Day, only one of the dads has a child in Alice Springs”. The only child was daughter Jamie McElligott (daughter of Travis McElligott) who the dads have to thank for organising their ‘Orphan Dads Father’s Day Dinner’ at Samphire Restaurant. ‘The Plumbing and Mechanic Dads’ include Travis McElligott, Andy McClure, Deryk Ashurst, Michael Hughes, Percy House, Terry Newman, Steve Randall, and Mark Russell.

Lasseters Hotel Casino is located beneath the magnificent MacDonnell Ranges and has 140 rooms, an international standard casino, four restaurants, two bars, a sports lounge and a night club. The property is adjoined to the Alice Springs Convention Centre and is the second largest employer in Alice Springs.
