Mid-Week party saw hundreds of Masters Games competitors dancing in the rain at Lasseters Hotel Casino.

Last night saw hundreds of people turn out for the Masters Games ‘Beat the Clock’ mid week party which had been scheduled to take place on the lawns in front of the Juicy Rump and Lasseters Hotel Casino.  Due to a sudden downpour of rain the location was changed to the Juicy Rump Beer Garden but the party still went on.

Acting General Manager of Lasseters Hotel Casino Craig Jervis said “the decision to change the location from the lawns to the Juicy Rump Beer Garden was made with the safety of our customer’s as our top priority.  We still wanted to provide the concert everyone came to see and we were able to do that a few tweaks.”

Performers Mollie Meldrum, Millie Monogue, Brian Mannix, Melissa Tkautz, the Glitter Sisters and  DJ Lord Hooper entertained the guests for over 5 hours under umbrellas in the Juicy Beer Garden while party goers spent the night dancing in the rain and mingling with Drag Queens on the Juicy Deck and throughout the Casino until the wee hours of the morning.

“The turnout was surprising considering the weather but the rain didn’t stop the Masters Games competitors and supporters, everyone had a great time” Mr Jervis.

During the last two games alone, (2008 and the 2010), Lasseters Hotel Casino and the Alice Springs Convention Centre has committed over $300,000.  As part of the sponsorship Lasseters Hotel Casino and the Alice Springs Convention Centre provide complimentary use of the Alice Springs Convention Centre facility and its amenities as well as accommodation rooms before, during and post the event, production requirements at the opening and closing ceremonies, support for volunteers as well as a large cash donation.
