Lasseters raises over $3000 for RSPCA Alice Springs

The RSPCA Melbourne Cup Day at Lasseters saw almost 400 people help raise over $3000 for the RSPCA Alice Springs.
Two events were held at Lasseters Hotel Casino for the 150th Melbourne Cup, the RSPCA Melbourne Cup Day at Juicy Rump, which saw over 200 of Alice Springs well heeled get their frocks and fascinators out and enjoy champagne, delectable food, best dressed competitions, cup sweeps, charity raffles and watch the race on the new 103-inch full high definition plasma. The Samphire Restaurant event saw over 70 watch the race on a 120-inch projector while indulging in a 3 course all you can eat Seafood Buffet.
Lasseters Hotel Casino Marketing Manager Megan Thompson says “The purpose of the day was to provide an entertaining venue for our customers to enjoy their Melbourne Cup experience whilst raising money for the RSPCA Alice Springs. We are constantly looking at ways to give back to our community and the RSPCA Alice Springs was a great fit for us.”
Proceeds were raised through the $10 per person entry fee into the Juicy Rump with 100% of proceeds being donated to the RSPCA Alice Springs. Lasseters Hotel Casino staff member sold tickets to three Raffles that featured donated goods from Mombasa Day Spa, Exotiq Gifts and Homewares, Yellow Tail Wines, the Alice Springs Flower Studio and Alice Cakes. Tickets were $2 and were sold in the Juicy Rump event as well as the Samphire Restaurant event. The total from door entrance and raffle sales was $2025.
Lasseters Hotel Casino donated a further $1000 bringing the total amount donated to the RSPCA Alice Springs to $3025.
The RSPCA Alice Springs team, lead by Shelter Manager Jill Hall work six days a week and only have two full time staff. They rely on volunteers and donations for funding. Shelter Manager Jill Hall was presented with an oversized $3025 cheque at the RSPCA Melbourne Cup Day at Lasseters Juicy Rump event and had a tear in her eye when receiving it. Jill said “We are delighted that Lasseters wanted to help us. I would like to thank everyone who bought raffle tickets and paid the $10 entrance fee, the animals and the staff really appreciates your kindness”.
SunFM sponsor the radio promotion of the event and the Alice Springs Wine Club sponsored the Best Dressed male, female and fascinator competitions.
Megan Thompson adds “we were overwhelmed with the number of local business who wanted to help us with the event, we have very generous people living in Alice Springs and we should be proud.”
Lasseters Hotel Casino has 140 rooms, four restaurants; two bars a sports lounge and an international standard casino. It is attached to the Alice Springs Convention Centre and is framed by the magnificent MacDonnell Ranges.
