Lasseters Hotel Casino chefs have built the biggest gingerbread house Alice Springs has ever seen and it’s on display in the hotel lobby until January 2011.
Standing at over 2 metres tall, with over 1500 lollies attached by icing, the Lasseters Hotel Casino gingerbread house is a spectacular sight. Executive Chef Umesh Chand, Pastry Chef Ashis Kumar and their team have spent over 15 hours constructing the base and baking the gingerbread panels and over 3 hours decorating the house.
The gingerbread house ingredients include 10kgs of sugar, 10kgs flour, 2kgs ginger; 200 grams of cinnamon, 5 litres of oil, 10 litres of water and the secret ingredient, 500ml of chocolate. The icing contains 100 eggs and 20kgs of icing sugar.
Lasseters Hotel Casino Marketing Manager Megan Thompson says “The gingerbread house is an amazing sight for both children and adults. We are lucky to have such talented chefs working for us who are able to create such intricate works of art for the entire community to enjoy".
Christmas definitely is all around at Lasseters Hotel Casino this year with 9 Christmas trees being flown in from Adelaide that will be being erected in the coming days.
In the casino, $20,000 worth of white goods will be given away in the Santa’s White Goods Giveaway. Minor draws occur every Sunday from 2pm and the major draw will occur on Sunday 12th December 2010.
The gingerbread house will be on display in the Lasseters Hotel Casino lobby until Monday 10th January 2011.
Lasseters Hotel Casino is open for a 3 course, all-you-can-eat seafood Christmas dinner in Samphire Restaurant on Christmas day.
Lasseters Hotel Casino has 140 rooms, four restaurants, two bars a sports lounge and an international standard casino. It is attached to the Alice Springs Convention Centre and is framed by the magnificent MacDonnell Ranges.
