Lasseters gives back with free New Year's Eve concert

Fireworks, stilt walkers, a fire show, live saxophone player, live band and live DJ; the Juicy Rump’s massive free-to-enter New Year's Eve party on the lawns is set to entertain Alice Springs this year.
Lasseters Hotel Casino is hosting a free public event on the lawns of the Juicy Rump this New Year's Eve from 6pm and it has all the ingredients for a memorable night.
Live interstate saxophonist Troy Stevens, AKA ‘The Sax Man’ starts the evening at 6pm with a performance on the Juicy Deck. Delectable Juicy Rump food is available as per normal service including group platters, the Juicy Menu and the new Juicy Drinks menu.
Two enormous fireworks displays will take place at 9pm and again at midnight. The 9pm show allows enough time for those finishing at the adjoining ice skating rink at the Alice Springs Convention Centre to join the fun at 9pm.
Lasseters Hotel Casino Marketing Manager Megan Thompson says “We wanted to give back to our community, it’s our way of saying thank you, so we decided to provide a free event for everyone to enjoy.”
Stilt walkers will entertain the crowds on the lawns of Juicy Rump after the 9pm fireworks show, followed by an amazing fire show by Alice Springs Circus act – Circosis. Food and bar stalls will be available on the front lawns.
Local live band ‘The Wet Season’ will bring in the New Year performing from 9.30pm on the stage. The talented five-piece band includes Duncan Rae on lead vocals and guitar, Denis Persson on guitar, Jason Wright singing, Douglas Pipe on drums, Chris Horsfall on bass and backing vocals and Gary Cannel on didgeridoo. The Wet Season will entertain the crowd with favourite covers from a range of bands and genres including Pink Floyd, the Beatles, Bob Marley, Rolling Stones and many more.
DJ Gaz will take guests into the small hours of January 1st 2011 with a mix of tracks from Top 40, Pop, RnB, Dance and the 90s.
Sukra Restaurant will also be open for those wanting to indulge in authentic Asian-fusion cuisine. Available for 18 years + only, open from 6pm phone 89507740 to book.
Samphire Restaurant will serve up their famous Seafood Buffet on New Year’s Eve for just $30pp and kids under 12 pay their age. Open from 6pm, phone 89507740 to book.
Lasseters Hotel Casino has 140 rooms, four restaurants, two bars, a sports lounge and an international standard casino. It is attached to the Alice Springs Convention Centre and is framed by the magnificent MacDonnell Ranges.
