Lasseters Development on Schedule

The largest entertainment venue in Alice Springs commenced its $35 million developments in April this year and construction planned for completion by early 2013 is on its way to meeting the scheduled deadlines.

External works including a sub-station is nearing its end of June completion date.

The back of house facilities upgrade and the new laundry are being erected and are on track for their October 2011 completion date.

The new resort pool area has been excavated and a local Alice Springs nursery has been growing the tropical plants that will create the gardens and recreational areas.  The pool will be operational by the end of October this year.

It has been reported that the extension of the gaming floor will accommodate 100 additional machines, however as part of the development strategy, there will be 30 machines introduced by the end of 2012.

Lasseters Hotel Casino Chief Operating Officer Chris Sartori says “As a result of community liaising I want to ensure it is understood that as per our original scheduling, the approval to expand the existing gaming area under the Casino Operators Agreement, involves rolling out an additional 30 machines and forms only one part of the overall leisure and entertainment package that will be offered.”

The $35 million dollar development at the venue includes a Day Spa under premium brand The Golden Door, 66 new accommodation rooms scheduled for completion by mid 2012 as well as a facelift for the existing Samphire Restaurant which will be refurbished into a new 240 seat dining space with multi cuisine options.

The additional hotel rooms will ensure the Alice Springs region can accommodate larger conferences that are currently turned away because of lack of rooms.

Lasseters Hotel Casino currently has 140 rooms, four restaurants; two bars a sports lounge and an international standard casino.  It is attached to the Alice Springs Convention Centre and is framed by the magnificent MacDonnell Ranges.
